Surrendering a pet

Surrendering your cat or dog is a difficult decision.

Needing to surrender your pet is a difficult decision that is not taken lightly. The last thing we want to see is a loving family broken up. As a rescue, we may be able to offer suggestions or resources if you are reluctantly considering surrendering your pet. Please contact us and consider these options before surrendering.

The Audrain Humane Society requires that you complete our surrender form to help us learn as much as possible about your pet. Please be very detailed when completing the form since the information provided will help us determine the right home for your pet in the future. 

Once you have completed the form, please send it to us via the email address listed above and include photo’s of your pet.  Once received, Audrain Humane Society will attempt to match a foster with your pet. There is no guarantee that a foster will be immediately available and the process may take several days. We have no physical facility and we rely solely on fosters in order to place the pet being surrendered.
