Foster a pet

Fostering a pet is truly a gratifying experience.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a foster parent to a pet in need. Fostering requires time and commitment to the foster pet, but can be a very rewarding and enjoyable experience.

When a pet is fostered, a spot is made available for another pet in need. Socializing and training foster pets helps the pet become more adoptable. Fosters provide a loving environment where a pet can decompress from the trauma of being neglected or abandoned and from the stressful shelter environment. Many pets are too stressed in a shelter environment and are overlooked by potential adopters but they blossom in a home setting.

Please remember these pets were stray or abandoned. We guess on their breed. We do not know their heritage. We have no history to share on the majority of these pets.

Please do not expect your new foster to be perfect. A rescued pet is forever grateful for being a loved part of your family. Although all of our animals are thoroughly evaluated, we cannot guarantee their health or temperament.

NOTE: Be prepared to be a foster for an undetermined amount of time. Sometimes unexpected things happen such as discovery of a medical condition. AHS is committed to finding the perfect home for your foster pet.

AHS WILL PROVIDE ALL SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR YOUR FOSTER PET, INCLUDING PUPPY PADS, CRATE, FOOD AND MEDICATIONS. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPLEMENT SOME OF THE SUPPLIES ON YOUR OWN, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO DISCUSS WITH YOUR AHS CONTACT.
